Dogtor Nellie...always ready for a therapy session
~About Linda and her therapy dog: Dogtor Nellie~
(See our photo in the "Linda's Story: Showing My Story" tab. You'll see us reading with children in the library). Dogtor Nellie is a Korean Jindo. She loves the camera. Of course I'm sure it has nothing to do with getting "nibblies" for her starring roles.
Dogtor Nellie and I are a Therapy Dog and Reading Education Assistance Dog (R.E.A.D) team. Therapy dogs are evaluated every 2 years to make certain that they are qualified to visit in hospitals, assisted living facilities, trauma centers, court settings, etc. Reading Education Assistance Dogs are registered therapy animals who read with children at schools and in local libraries. Not only is improvement shown in reading and communication, but the children learn to love books ... and reading becomes less stressful. I'm also a therapy dog team evaluator and R.E.A.D. instructor.
For more regarding what therapy dog teams do or how to become a therapy team, contact Pet Partners at www.petpartners.org &
R.E.A.D. at intermountaintherapyanimals.org
Dogtor Nellie created her own video, without my help. She decided she would do her best to give me options for things I might want to film in the future. A big thank you to Dogtor Nellie, as making films is very difficult without thumbs.
When Dogtor Nellie isn't seeing clients as a therapist or making films, she moonlights as a fortune teller, as well as a model.
